Practice tools Count-in, timer & trainer
Optional; depends on browser support and battery settings.
Meter, subdivision, count-in, and timer changes are available when stopped. Sound and volume can change during playback. BPM changes during count-in apply when practice begins; the count-in keeps its original tempo.

Start simply
Set 60 BPM and press Start at a comfortable device volume. In 4/4, count four numbered clicks per bar. Try eighth notes to place an extra click halfway between beats. Tap tempo measures your main beat from up to six recent intervals; a pause of more than three seconds starts a new measurement.
Understand 6/8
Here, 6/8 uses two dotted-quarter beats per bar. At 60 BPM, each numbered beat lasts one second and a bar lasts two seconds. Select eighth notes to hear three equal clicks per numbered beat: count "1 and a, 2 and a." Sixteenth notes split each dotted beat into six. Changing meter resets subdivision to main beats.
Build speed without rushing
Try 60 BPM, 4/4, eighth notes, a one-bar count-in, and a 300-second timer. Turn on the trainer: add 2 BPM every eight bars up to 100 BPM. If your playing becomes uneven, stop and lower the starting tempo. The trainer never exceeds the target. A new Start begins a fresh session, including the count-in.
Keyboard and visual practice
With focus outside a form control, Space starts or stops, T taps tempo, and Up/Right or Down/Left changes tempo by 1 BPM (Shift: 5). Form controls retain their normal keyboard behavior. Numbered highlights follow the audio clock without announcing every click to screen readers. Set volume to 0 for silent visual practice.
Audio and device limitations
Clicks are synthesized with Web Audio and scheduled on its clock, independently of visual animation. Bluetooth output can add delay. If audio is interrupted or scheduling falls too far behind, playback stops with an explanation instead of rushing through missed beats. Keep the tab visible; screen wake lock cannot guarantee background playback or override battery-saving policies.
What is saved?
Only presets you explicitly save are kept in this browser's local storage. Delete them here or clear this site's browser data to remove them. Reloading uses defaults unless a settings link is open. No microphone, recording, or practice history is used. Reset stops playback and restores defaults without deleting presets. Shared settings are in the URL fragment; do not put personal information in links. See the privacy policy for advertising and other external requests.
